JOBS

When energy assets are privatised, jobs are cut and less apprenticeships are offered.

When the Victorian government sold its energy assets, 8 000 jobs were cut and no apprentices were employed for 10 years. In 2015, the LNP in Queensland cut almost 2 000 jobs and planned to close 41 energy depots, resulting in even more job losses.

Many private energy companies are based outside Australia and will send their own workers instead of employing locals, or even outsource overseas workers to perform work remotely.
